Manchester Airport is the 3rd busiest airport in the UK after Heathrow and Gatwick.
Outside London, Manchester is the busiest airport in the UK. During the Second World War, the RAF commissioned it as RAF Ringway and produced military aircraft for the war effort.
Manchester Airport was getting busy and so in 1997 they decided to lay a second runway which opened in 2001. The airport now houses one of the last Concordes (G-BOAC) in the visitor park.
